I did not have a traditional journey through life. After being bedridden for one year at 8 years old, I beat a terminal kidney disease. My first job was mowing lawns as a kid for $3 bucks a pop. I was extremely bored with high school but graduated. I also started racing Motocross in high school. Way more exciting! Won lots of races, but after 3 years & many trips to the ER, it was time to move on.

Next came 7 years of skiing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, pursuing my goal of skiing full time & competing in moguls. It was a totally unknown sport at the time. My Texas buddies would ask: "What's a mogul?" Got into the top tier of skiing with the likes of Jack Taylor, two time World Champion, but I never saw any real financial payoff, so I decided to head back to Texas. It was finally time to face the dreaded "get a real job" and start a family.

Looking back though over those years though, I wouldn't change a thing! While most of my friends were in college or working, and wondering what to do for the next 40 years with their lives, I was busy living my dream! Skiing all day in peak physical condition and after skiing indulging in the night life. More in a minute...

A Common Man With A Very Uncommon Story

Sufi teaching story: Nasrudin stood up in the marketplace and started to address the throng. "O my people! Do all of you really want knkowledge without difficulty, truth without falsehood, great attainment without sacrifice?" Very soon a very large crowd gathered, everyone shouting, "Yes, yes!"

"Excellent!" said Nasrudin. "I only wanted to know. You may rely upon me to tell you about it if I ever discover any such a thing." Excerpt from Zen in the Markets

1st Year Trading Experience

My trading & investing journey started in 1979. It all started after the move back to Texas and going back to driving concrete trucks at the family ready-mix concrete company that had provided the summer job to pay for the skiing adventure. It was not my dream job but it paid the bills. It was at this time that I inherited $30k, the only money I've ever been given, and coincidentally I had just read the book by Nicholas Darvas, "How I Made $2 Million in the Stock Market." Game on!

My broker, Phil Christian, had me use options for leverage so I could trade leading "Glamour" stocks. Smart move. The market was on a big leg up, and finally after getting Phil to use my stragey and focus on just one stock that was really moving, I was on board. The result was a 400%+ return that year. Luck? Some for sure, but most traders get their bragging rights from a big market moves, or they follow the marketing playbook of a poor, poor me story. Hey I was making more money than most of my buddie's dad made at his job (mom's did not work back then).

Anyway, I was now a 28 year old who bought a 2-story home, 2 cars, a 1/2 interest in a twin engine Baron aircraft, all while my buddies were making $20k a year & struggling to pay rent. So, while I declared myself to be a pro trader to anyone who would listen, it turned out to be just the start of the journey. Life had a few twists & turns in store for me. All part of an exciting life adventure!

So, my success lead to lots of free time and twelve years ago I revisited trading & the stock market. After 12 long months of eliminating what did not work over 3 decades of my ups & downs in trading, I kept the parts that did work. I also met a few pro traders along the way who gave me some guidance and taught me that the market is simple supply & demand. As is 99% of the business world.

So, out of frustration with what was available to the average investor or trader, I developed my own simple, repeatable method to invest and trade with. One that works with the price action of any chart, with any stock, futures, crypto, etc. And maybe the best part is it will never go out of style as it's based on the up & down rhythm of the price action.

Every stock has it just like there are waves in any ocean, on any continent. Sure, my method takes practice like any new skill set, but is not difficult to learn. It may the simpliest, most straight forward you've ever tried, and it teaches a student how to hitch a ride on the consistent moves (waves) that the big funds and institutions create with their massive volume. Simple supply and demand.

But my method is 100% based on price action, not volume, algorithms, or any of the outdated strategies in the books. All traders know that if another book was the answer, every trader on the planet would own that book immediately from Amazon! Same goes for all the YouTube & social media that pretents to be "education."

Do you know any doctors who learned their skill set from YouTube? How about any pilots? I have over 3,000 hours flying my twin engine Piper Navajo and I had to learn that skill set the same way every pilot had to. There are no shortcuts in flying, trading, investing, or life.

But, let me share with you some good news. A Mentor can save a person a ton of valuable time! In any career, especially in trading and investing. Do some research and you'll find all wealthy people had a mentor.

I did. I actually had one in racing motocross. Another in skiing. Another in my real estate career. And one in my trading as well. Google is great as we can get an answer to anything, but does this ever result in building wealth? Not a chance.

So, after a wonderfully successful business, investing, & trading career, I did not build this website to sell courses. There's a longer version to this story, but the short version is I was persuaded by a close friend & golfing buddy to help his son out, and although hesitant at first, I'm always open to a new challenge so I gave it a go. And that young man is still trading full time 8 years later! No 9-5 for him!

By my 3rd year of trading, I was not making the same type of gains, so I decided to focus on real estate investing. Whle it was hard on the ego, it turned out that temporarily taking my trading profits out of the market was a good idea. My real estate & building career was booming! And I realized I was missing the most important parts of trading: A repeatable trading Method, a Risk Management plan, and lastly, rules on how to hold winning trades (trade management!).

So, it turned out that big first year of trading ended up being the stepping stone to investing in rental homes. Along with starting my contracting business that evolved into my building high end custom homes for over two decades. I'm proud to have built high-end homes for the wealthy in Houston, Texas, but even more proud to have built a reputation of trust & integrity.
